Ex-presidents to gather in Qabala for international conference

A two-day international conference will be held in Qabala in December involving several former presidents who will discuss ways of preventing and combating growing violent extremism.
The event will be co-organized by Azerbaijan`s State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Nizami Ganjavi International Center and Madrid Club.
Participants in the conference will include co-chairs of Nizami Ganjavi International Center – president of Madrid Club, former Latvian President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, Founding Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ismail Serageldin, members of the Center – Poland’s former President Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Serbia’s former President Boris Tadić, Colombia’s former President Andrés Pastrana Arango, Romania’s former President Emil Constantinescu, Croatia’ former President Ivo Josipović, Netherlands’ former Prime Minister Wim Kok, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s former Head of Cabinet Zlatko Lagumdžija, Georgia’s former Deputy Prime Minister Eka Tkeshelashvili and other former heads of state and governments from 20 countries, as well as acclaimed politicians, scientists and cultural figures.
The conference will address reasons of the growth of extremism, modern threats to peace and security, and emphasize the necessity of concerted efforts for ensuring peaceful co-existence and tolerance.
In parallel with the conference Qabala will also host an annual gathering of Madrid Club.
