PAKISTANI WEEKLY “PULSE” ON NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT
The Pakistani weekly newspaper “Pulse” published an article by professor of the international relations department of Pakistan University Gaid-e Ezam Ishtiag Ahmed, titled “Nagorno Karabakh: hot conflict on the Caucasus”, the embassy of Azerbaijan in Islamabad said.
Professor I. Ahmed informs, that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has resulted from territorial claims of Armenia against Azerbaijan and its separatist policy, 20 percent of the Azerbaijani lands have been occupied, more than one million Azerbaijanis have become refugees and IDPs. The author notes, that unlike Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and other regions of conflicts, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is beyond from attention of the international public.
Informing about the discussions conducted by the OSCE Minsk Group for settlement of the conflict, professor I. Ahmed writes that because of non-constructive position of Armenia, settlement of the conflict still is not reached.
Noting that several days ago he took part at the international conference lead by Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, the Pakistani scientist writes, that his Azeri colleagues resolutely declared, that in case of impossibility of peace settlement of problem, they will liberate the occupied lands by other means.
Speaking of the so-called “Armenian genocide”, the professor narrates on the atrocities committed by Armenians in Khojaly in February 1992.
Noting that any world country has not recognized the so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic”, “established” by support of Armenia, prof. I. Ahmed emphasizes that according to the international law, Nagorno Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan and that official Baku is ready to give to Nagorno Karabakh high status of autonomy in the framework of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
