PREMIER OF TURKEY MEETS PRESIDENT BUSH OF AMERICA
Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the evening November 5 met with the President of the United States George Bush in Washington.
The meeting was also attended by foreign minister of Turkey Ali Babacan, defense minister Vecdi Konul, deputy chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, army general Ergun Saygun, vice-chairman of AK Party Egemen Bagish, ambassador of Turkey in Washington Nebi Shensoy.
After an hour and a half meeting, speaking to media representatives, President George Bush noted the importance of exchange of intelligence data in combat against terrorism, stressing the United States would further cooperate with its ally and strategic partner Turkey in this field. Stating that PKK is the enemy of Turkey, as well as the United States and Iraq, expressed gratitude for hosting an important action in Istanbul.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the PKK terrorists in the north of Iraq cause deep concern in Turkey and the relevant decision of the Turkish Parliament on military operations would not affect the peaceful people. The Turkish Premier expressed confidence that as in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq, the Untried States would be together with Turkey in fighting the PKK terrorists.
Mr. Erdogan said also discussed was the question of cutting finance of the terrorists.
