Ravan Hasanov: All religious communities in Azerbaijan contribute significantly to educational and cultural dialogue

An Azerbaijani delegation, led by Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, attended the G20 Interfaith Forum held under the theme “Faith in Action” in Cape Town, South Africa.
The delegation included Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre (BIMC); Ramin Gambarov, BIMC Deputy Executive Director; and MPs Fazil Mustafa and Javanshir Pashazade.
In his remarks, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade emphasized that now, more than ever, humanity needs peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.
Addressing the panel discussion titled “Education for Solidarity: Cross-cultural Religious Literacy and Addressing Religious Tensions, Violence and Harmony,” BIMC Executive Director Ravan Hasanov described multiculturalism as not only a spiritual value for the Azerbaijani nation but also as one of the key priorities of Azerbaijan’s state policy. He further emphasized that education is the cornerstone of multiculturalism, adding that all religious communities in Azerbaijan contribute significantly to educational and cultural dialogue.
The Azerbaijani delegation also engaged in bilateral discussions with several officials, including Adama Dieng, Adviser to the Muslim Council of Elders; Mohamed Elsanousi, Commissioner of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF); Ibrahim Saleh Al-Naimi, Chairman of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue; Ruslanbek Davletov, Adviser to the Uzbek President; and others.
During the meetings, discussions centered on interreligious and intercultural dialogue, religious tolerance, combating radicalism, safeguarding vulnerable communities, preserving Islamic cultural heritage, and educational and scientific cooperation.
