33RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NATIONAL ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS TO BE HELD IN BAKU
The 33rd international conference “Interdependence of National Assessment Systems and Education Standards” slated for September 17 in Baku is set to be the largest ever, Sydell Carlton, President of the International Association for Educational Assessment said at a news conference September 16 at the Park Inn hotel in Baku.
S. Carlton pointed out the conference will gather 216 delegates from foreign countries including university professors, policy makers, representatives state-sponsored assessment organizations and others.
“The aim of the conference is to have our members share information and expertise on issues related to assessment,” S. Carlton said.
Speaking at the conference chairwoman of the State Student Admission Commission of Azerbaijan Republic Maleyka Abbaszadeh noted that it is the first time that IAEA holds its conference in the post-soviet area. She stressed that State Commission has been participating in IAEA conference since 2002 while the Baku conference will be the first for the CIS representatives.
Founded in 1975, the IAEA is a not for profit, non-government association of measurement agencies around the world. The broad purpose of IAEA is to assist educational agencies in the development and appropriate application of educational assessment techniques to improve the quality of education.
IAEA holds its conferences annually in various countries. Azerbaijan is the only country from the CIS and Eastern Europe that has joined the Association since 1999.
