Israel takes home more medals at Abu-Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu world championships
Baku, November 21, AZERTAC
Israeli athletes on Thursday again stepped up to the podium to receive medals at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Abu Dhabi, another proud moment for Israel’s national team, according to TPS news agency.
Ronnie Nessimian, a female member of Israel’s national team, won a silver medal at the Under-63-kilograms competition and was crowned deputy world champion, while Meshi Rosenfeld took the bronze at the Under-57-kilograms match.
Rosenfeld won her battles and overpowered her rival from Kazakhstan, despite her suffering from a leg injury.
These achievements join a gold medal won Alon Leviev over the weekend, at the end of which Israel’s Hatikvah national anthem was played at Abu Dhabi.
Leviev beat competitors from Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan and Abu Dhabi to win the gold in the Under-55-kilograms weight category.
Attended by some 60 national teams, the World Championship in Abu Dhabi is the most important competition of the year for the Israeli Jiu-Jitsu team.
