Gold nanoparticles could transform trees into street lights
Baku, November 13 (AZERTAC). A post-doctor researcher from Taiwan, Dr. Yen-Hsun Su has made an amazing discovery about the potential of using plants, especially roadside trees as streetlights! Yen-Hsun Su, which is a researcher at Research Center for Applied Science, Academia Sinica, Taiwan was experimenting with gold nano particles and discovered the amazing bioluminescence efficiency for greener means of lighting technologies.
Doctor Yen-Hsun Su, of Academia Sinica, Taiwan, has been testing to implant gold nanoparticles into Bacopa caroliniana plants and found that, when exposed to high wavelength ultraviolet light, those injected gold nanoparticles is capable to produce a blue-violet fluorescence that triggers a red emission of the surrounding chlorophyll.
Will this type of night bio-illuminating technology makes trees against its nature by absorbing CO2 during night time also? What side effects will this type of bio-illuminating technology potentially bring to those injected trees? Will the bio-illuminating nanoparticles damage soil where the trees grow? Or would the nanoparticles soluble with the rain and big downpour would derive unknown side effect to nearby soil?
However, behind all the worries and concern of this amazing bio-illumination technology, we believe any new discovery will always bring change, and changes, if well anticipated, will likely bring more benefits than harm.
