Park of Mexican-Azerbaijani friendship and monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev unveiled in Mexico
Baku, August 24 (AZERTAC). A new park was laid out Aug.22 at the main avenue of the capital of Mexico as a symbol of the Mexican-Azerbaijani friendship. A monument to national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev created by sculptor Natig Aliyev was placed in the park.
The Park occupying an area of 1.7 hectares has been completely renovated by the government of Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony was attended by a delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov, Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard and the city residents.
The participants of the event paid tribute to national leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers at the monument.
Minister of Environment of Mexico Martha Delgado the opening of this Park is a landmark event in the history of the city. The Minister stressed that the park located in the historic area of Mexico City is a component of a complex featuring a variety of museums and recreation centers. Ms. Delgado expressed confidence that the park will become one of the best places of the city to visit.
Minister of Urban Development of Mexico Felipe Leal Mexico said at the ceremony said that opening of the Park of Mexican-Azerbaijani friendship is a symbol of the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov has delivered a message from the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the event participants.
Ali Hasanov said that the creation of the Mexican-Azerbaijani Friendship Park in Mexico and opening of a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev here is a historic event for Azerbaijan. Ali Hasanov expressed gratitude to the leadership of the city for such an excellent initiative.
Then he briefed the attendees on the life and activities of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Mayor of Mexico Marcelo Ebrard said he feels a sense of pride welcoming the delegation of Azerbaijan. He emphasized the park will be a favorite place of recreation for residents and tourists here.
The event was attended by the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov, MP Ayaz Orujov, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico Oscar Arce, members of the government and the Congress of Mexico, diplomats, representatives of the Azeri, Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian communities. The ceremony was widely covered by the media of the country.
