Mexico-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group convenes its inaugural meeting in Mexican parliament

An inaugural meeting of the Mexico-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group was held in the Mexican Chamber of Deputies. The initiative aims to strengthen bilateral ties and promote cooperation between the two countries.
The participants noted that despite the geographical distance, relations between Mexico and Azerbaijan are based on friendship, equality, and mutual respect. They hailed the fact that the event coincided with February 10, which marks the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Mexico’s support for Azerbaijan’s position on the Karabakh issue was strongly commended. Officials emphasized that this support, based in international law, has significantly strengthened political trust between the two nations. The meeting also highlighted Mexico’s support for efforts to achieve lasting peace in the South Caucasus. Officials described the Washington meeting held on August 8, 2025, as part of ongoing regional peace initiatives.
During the meeting, a Memorandum was signed to establish the Mexico-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group. Additionally, a video on the upcoming Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Azerbaijan was screened.
The participants also planted an olive tree in the courtyard of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies as a symbol of friendship and interparliamentary cooperation between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Chamber of Deputies.
