Leonardo DiCaprio Tops Forbes List of Highest-Paid Actors
Baku, August 2 (AZERTAC). The Titanic star had a titanic year, topping the list of Hollywood`s highest paid actors and beating out some of Hollywood`s biggest and best.
Inception`s Leonardo DiCaprio made $77 million over the last year, putting him at the top of Forbes` list of highest paid actors and edging him past fellow blockbusters like Johnny Depp and Will Smith.
In 2010, the Titanic star scored two major hits with Shutter Island and Inception, which earned a combined $1.2 billion and brought DiCaprio a sizable portion of the profits.
The 37-year-old actor started his career as a teenager, but became a mega-star after 1997`s Titanic launched him as a major name and Hollywood heartthrob. Since then, DiCaprio has had his choice of roles and directors, working with Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan in recent years. The actor is currently set to star in a historical drama about the John F. Kennedy assassination based on the book, Legacy of Secrecy.
Rounding out the Forbes` Top 5 list of Highest paid actors is Johnny Depp ($ 50 million), Adam Sandler ($40 million), Will Smith ($36 million), and Tom Hanks ($35 million).
Forbes compiled their figures by talking to industry insiders and coming up with an estimate for each actor`s gross, pretax earnings between May 1, 2010 and May 1, 2011.
