Pakistan and Bangladesh restore flights to Gulf countries after airspace reopens

Islamabad, Hilal Ahmad, June 24, AZERTAC
Pakistan’s commercial flights to and from Middle Eastern destinations, including Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Bahrain, have resumed normal operations following the reopening of airspace in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Aviation sources said on Tuesday that Pakistan has restored its flight operations to Gulf countries after the reopening of airspace over Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain. The resumption of flights comes after Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and several other commercial carriers temporarily suspended operations last night due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Following the lifting of airspace restrictions, Bangladesh also announced the resumption of flights to Middle Eastern countries. Earlier, flight disruptions had been caused by the temporary closure of airspace in Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. The suspension affected flights to and from Sharjah, Dubai, Kuwait, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain.
With restrictions now lifted, services from the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka to Middle Eastern destinations have also resumed as scheduled. The disrupted flight schedules affected Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Air Arabia, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and other carriers.
Pakistan’s national carrier, PIA, has also restored its Gulf-bound flights, though some delays are still expected. Previously, a total of 32 flights from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and other airports across Pakistan were cancelled, including 14 Qatar Airways flights. Additionally, 55 flights were delayed at airports across the country.
Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and other countries in the region had temporarily suspended air traffic on Monday due to safety concerns. The airspaces were reopened early Tuesday following the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran by the President of the United States.
