Pope's condition stable since yesterday, no new crises

Pope Francis on Tuesday morning was continuing his usual therapy after an uninterrupted night's sleep and his condition was the same as last night with no new respiratory crises, ANSA reported citing the Vatican sources.
The pontiff "this morning has woken up" and "is continuing his usual therapy of the past few days" while his "condition remains the same as last night", the sources said.
The pontiff "can get up", they added.
Pope Francis slept last night "without interruption" and he spent a "quiet, restful night", the sources added, noting this induces to think that "he didn't have any new respiratory crises".
Asked whether the pope was helped to rest through the administration of sedatives, the Vatican sources said "they have never been mentioned in medical bulletins".
A new press conference with the medical team treating the pontiff at Rome's Agostino Gemelli Hospital has not been ruled out although no date has been set.
Earlier on Monday, the Vatican press office said that the condition of the 88-year-old pontiff had shown a slight improvement after he was said to be critical following respiratory crises on Saturday.
Francis was admitted to the hospital on February 14 and is being treated for double pneumonia.
A health update last week said that he also had mild renal insufficiency, adding that this appears to be under control.
