Baku, May 21, AZERTAC
“The 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), organized in Baku, is of great importance. First of all, we must express our gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting us. This prestigious international event is significant because various cities from around the world gather here to share their best practices regarding urbanization, sustainable construction, and the development of human settlements,” Mluleki Nelson Nkosi, Executive Mayor of the Lesedi Local Municipality located in South Africa's Gauteng Province and representative of the South African Local Government Association, who is participating in WUF13, told AZERTAC.
He pointed out that the “smart city” and “smart village” projects implemented in Azerbaijan also serve as excellent examples.
“Here, we draft joint resolutions and declarations, and reach common agreements on how to develop our cities. Upon arriving here, we observed that Azerbaijan is one of the developed countries in the field of urbanization. We hope to learn from them here, while they, like other countries around the world, will also learn from our specific experiences,” he added.
