2012-2013 Edmund S.Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program’s competition underway
Baku, January 24 (AZERTAC). The second stage of the competition for the 2012-2013 Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program is underway. Some 24 applicants, who have already passed the first stage of the competition, will be allowed to take part in the second stage.
The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, provides fellowships for Master’s degree-level study to emerging leaders from Eurasia for study in the United States in the various fields. The program provides fellows with intensive academic study and professional training in their chosen fields.
The program is open to graduate students and professionals from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan for one-year non-degree, one-year degree or two-year degree study in the United States.
Eligible fields of study include: business administration, economics, education, environmental policy and management, international affairs, journalism and mass communication, law, library and information science, public administration, public health and public policy.
The Muskie Program is conducted as a merit-based open competition. After the deadline, all eligible applications will be reviewed by a bi-national panel of academics, regional experts, and alumni. Chosen semi-finalists will be interviewed in their home country by a binational committee of US academic specialists, program alumni, and US embassy representatives.
Selected semi-finalists will take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), as well as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), if applicable, in early 2012. Program finalists and alternates will be chosen based on results of the initial application review, interview committee, and test scores.
