The Board of the State Committee for Women’s Problems has summed up the results of 2003 activity. A detailed report delivered by the first Deputy Chairman of the Committee Dilruba Jamalova says the Committee has been working in line with Head of State’s Decrees and Executive Orders concerning women, youth and children, as well as the “National Plan of Activity of the Azerbaijan Republic on Women’s Problems.” She pointed out numerous arrangements conducted in connection with preparation for presidential elections, II Congress of women of the Republic, and 10th anniversary of the International Family Day. The Committee has strengthened links with international organizations, provided involvement of our women in discussion of important issues of the year in both Republican and international scale.
Leadership of the Committee visited 76 provinces last year to study ways of women’s problems solution there, particular attention was paid to fight against involvement of under-age girls in marriage, and enforcement immoral conduct on women and girls. Measures for prevention of crime among girls and women were taken at local level, and conferences on fight against involvement of women in drug addiction and illegal drug turnover were conducted in all provinces of the Republic.
The Committee was also focused on development of entrepreneurship among women, as well as took active part in the work of relevant structures of the United Nations and Council of Europe.
