AZERBAIJANI AMBASSADOR TO TURKEY PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO MACEDONIAN PRESIDENT
Azerbaijan`s Ambassador to Turkey, Zakir Hashimov, who will also be his country`s envoy in Macedonia, met with Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski to present his credentials.
The Azerbaijani envoy conveyed the greetings and best wishes from his country’s President Ilham Aliyev to the Macedonian leader.
The ambassador informed Crvenkovski about Azerbaijan`s economic, cultural, social and political development.
Zakir Hashimov also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
He said that Azerbaijan wants the dispute to be peacefully solved.
Hashimov blamed Armenia`s destructive stance for the unsuccessfulness of talks within the OSCE Minsk Group.
The envoy said he believes Macedonia will make efforts to help solve the problem based on the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Zakir Hashimov also stressed Azerbaijan`s key role in energy projects in the region, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilis-Erzurum gas pipelines.
Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski said he believes the new ambassador will make every effort towards enhancement of Macedonia-Azerbaijan relations.
Crvenkovski asked the Azeri envoy to convey his greetings and best wishes to his country’s President Ilham Aliyev.
The Macedonian leader described Azerbaijan as the region`s rapidly developing country, and added that its development process is closely watched in his country.
Branko Crvenkovski said Macedonia recognizes Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, and stressed he hopes the conflict will be peacefully solved.
The Ambassador also handed over his credentials to Foreign Minister Zoran Petrov.
Hashimov and Petrov discussed ways of boosting bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Macedonia.
Zakir Hashimov also met with Macedonian Parliament Speaker Ljubisa Georgievski, Deputy Minister of Economy Kira Spenzer, Head of the Protocolar Administration Petar Jovanovski and Head of the Department for Bilateral Relations with European Countries Ordje Dzalevski.
