EASTERN PARTNERSHIP COUNTRIES TO MOVE CLOSER TO EU
Baku, September 18 (AZERTAC). The Eastern Partnership program will bring its participating countries - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine and Armenia - closer to the European Union, John Kjaer, head of the Unit for Ukraine Moldova Belarus and South Caucasus of the General Directorate for External Relation of the European Commission and Giovanni Cremonini, Policy Officer, ENP General Co-Ordination Unit, DG External Relations, European Commission told a news conference in Baku.
John Kjaer noted Eastern partnership is a new framework for cooperation between European Union and its eastern partners. The aim is to expand political and economic cooperation between EU and its eastern partners including Azerbaijan by attracting government and civil society.
The bilateral cooperation envisages signing the association agreements with all partners while multilateral cooperation provides for discussions for solving the problems of participating states.
Free trade deals are also expected to be sealed
A forum for the Eastern Partnership Initiative will be held later in November 16-17. The recommendations adopted at the forum will be submitted to the meeting of foreign ministers to be conducted in December.
