SIXTH EURASIAN MEDIA FORUM UNDERWAY IN ALMATY
The sixth Eurasian media forum continued its work April 20 in Almaty.
On the second day of the forum, discussions revolved around “policy of pipelines - complexity of energy security problem”. Discussions on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline project and others involved famous political scientists and politicians.
Forum participants also discussed the following questions: Kazakhstan’s OSCE presidency - supporters and opponents; European Union’s policy in the Central Asia; resolution of conflicts in the post-soviet area; role of media in financial operations and others.
AZERTAG employee Nazim Khidirov in particular said ”Representatives of the European nations and some international organizations strongly recommend to find a peaceful solution to the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Azerbaijan also supports peaceful resolution of the conflict. However, this situation can no longer continue. Armenia continues to occupy 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands; 1 million Azerbaijani refugees and displaced persons cannot return to their homes. Has not the time come for international organizations to give up double standards and be more active in this issue?” This question aroused a keen interest of Stefanie Babst, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy and other forum participants.
Later the same day, AZERTAG director general Aslan Aslanov met with the chairman of the organizing committee of the forum, deputy of Majlis of Kazakh parliament Dariga Nazarbayeva, and presented her a musical album “Karabakh khanende” produced by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
