ANKARA SYMPOSIUM DISCUSSES ARMENIA`s AGGRESSION AGAINST AZERBAIJAN
Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan was the main topic of discussions at a symposium on impact of democracy on human rights started Sunday in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
In his address, chairman of the Turkic World Human Rights Association Abdullah Buksur stressed the role of governments in ensuring the protection of human rights and freedoms.
Chairman of the Commission for Human Rights at the Turkish Parliament Zafar Uskul spoke of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and said Armenians occupied twenty percent of Azerbaijan`s territory driving one million Azerbaijanis out of their homelands.
He called on Turkic countries to combine efforts to solve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and help Azeri refugees return to their homelands.
Member of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ganira Pashayeva stressed it is important that all Turkic countries unite to prevent Armenia from continuing to pursue aggressive policy against Turkic communities across the world.
Pashayeva spoke of the work done to strengthen the protection of human rights and freedoms in her country.
Speaking on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Azeri parliamentarian said the United Nations adopted four resolution demanding unconditional liberation of Azerbaijan`s occupied territories by Armenia.
Ganira Pashayeva also touched upon the OSCE Minsk group`s efforts towards finding a peaceful solution to the Armenia-Azerbaijan dispute.
The symposium will end on Monday.
