China, Uzbekistan pledge to deepen economy, trade cooperation
Tashkent, April 23 (AZERTAC). China and Uzbekistan will continue to deepen cooperation in economy and trade, said a joint statement signed by Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov after talks in Beijing on Tuesday, according to Xinhua.
China and Uzbekistan will promote bilateral trade through improving trade infrastructure, diversifying types of imports and exports and promoting trade in strategic products, according to the joint statement released on Wednesday.
The two countries will also broaden trade in high-technology, traffic, communication and non-resources sectors, speed up the implementation of large-scale cooperation projects and create conditions for the continued, sound and steady development of bilateral trade cooperation, the statement said.
The operation of the China-Uzbekistan natural gas pipeline is a great achievement in the energy cooperation between the two countries, which will deepen cooperation in natural gas and in the exploration, exploitation and trade of natural resources, the statement said.
The two parties will also expand coordination in financial investment and implement the projects to facilitate loans from China to Uzbekistan and a joint venture between the countries in Uzbekistan`s Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone.
China and Uzbekistan will strengthen coordination and cooperation between government departments particular those in the areas of law-enforcement and security, timely exchange of information and coordinate actions to combat all forms of religious extremism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crimes that pose a threat to regional security and stability, the statement said.
The two parties will adopt effective measures within the frameworks of the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to crack down on all forms of terrorism and separatism including the "East Turkistan" terrorist forces in a bid to safeguard peace and tranquility in the two countries and the rest of the region, the statement said.
