Global Baku Forum features panel session on “Path to Peace”

The 12th Global Baku Forum, organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center under the patronage of President Ilham Aliyev, continued on Friday with a panel session on “Path to Peace.”
Kateryna Yushchenko, Chairperson of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation, addressed the panel session, moderated by Susan Elliott, President and CEO of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy. Touching upon the Ukraine-Russia war, Kateryna Yushchenko said: “The continuation of this war poses a threat not only to the region, but also to the entire world. We cannot look at events only through a particular prism. We are not talking about just one city or state here, but rather about the democratic world as a whole,” she emphasized.
In her remarks, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, former President of Croatia, spoke about US President Donald Trump’s approach to the Ukraine-Russia war.
Ehud Olmert, former Prime Minister of Israel, drew attention to the current human rights violations in many parts of the world.
Speaking at the event, Tzipi Livni, former Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, emphasized the significance of finding ways to create a better future for Palestinians and Israelis, stating: “Although the current situation is not encouraging, it is necessary to create a certain level of diplomatic compromise. The discussions must be strengthened.”
Milo Dukanovic, former President of Montenegro, underlined that the 12th Global Baku Forum and the topics discussed during the panel sessions would provide an excellent opportunity to find solutions to addressing impacts of global crises and geopolitical changes, since the current geopolitical situation is indeed shocking.
“If we do not pay more attention to the protection of human rights, we may face serious consequences," the former Montenegrin President noted.
Bulent Arinc, former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, former Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson of Türkiye, talked about the crises and wars that have arisen in many parts of the world.
Miroslav Lajcak, President of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly; former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovak Republic; former EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues, highlighted the role of social media in modern society, saying: “If we want a lasting and just peace, it must be based, primarily, on international law.
Philip Lader, former United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom; former Chairman of WPP plc, highlighted the importance of analyzing the geopolitical situation, urging everyone to have a clear understanding about what is happening in the world. He also underscored the importance of the issues discussed during the forum.
The panel continued with further discussions on the topic.
