POLISH SPEAKER BOGDAN BORUSEWICZ VISITS AZERBAIJAN
In 1922, Pavel Potozki managed the works on draining of Bibiheybat bay and creation of oil field here.
The delegation was accompanied by the first deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ziyafet Asgarov and Ambassador of Poland to Azerbaijan Krzystoff Krajewski.

Later, the Polish delegation visited the Baku Slavonic University (BSU) to attend the official opening of the Polish Cultural Center here. At the University’s conference hall, they met with its teaching staff and students.
Informing the guests about the University, rector Kamal Abdullayev mentioned its role in strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and Slavonic countries, including Poland. He said the University enrolling 3 thousand students is comprised of five departments, magistracy and humanitarian lyceum to prepare teachers and specialists in Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarussian, Czech, Bulgarian and Greek language and literature.
The rector particularly emphasized the role of Ambassador Krzystoff Krajewski in opening of the Polish Cultural Center at the University.
Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz said he was pleased to attend the opening of the Center, noting that 80 students of the University specializing in Polonistics would have an opportunity to continue education in Poland. He thanked the Polish embassy, companies and Senate for the support in opening the Center at BSU.
The meeting followed by a concert performed by the students of the University’s Department of Polonistics.
Present at the opening ceremony were first deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis, MPs and other officials.

Afterwards, Mr. Borusewicz and his delegation visited the State Museum of Azerbaijani Carpets and Decorative Applied Arts named after Latif Karimov.
The Museum holds close to 10,000 items, including a wide range of carpets, traditional clothing, jewelry, shoes and copper goods like plates, jugs, mugs and samovars.
Bogdan Borusewicz signed the Museum’s Memory Book.

The Polish delegation also visited the Sangachal Terminal.
The guests familiarized themselves with the photo exhibition and watched a documentary film about the work done so far under the “Contract of the Century”, at the Caspian Energy Center.
Afterwards, they toured the terminal by bus.

The same day, Mr. Borusewicz gave a press conference in Poland’s Embassy to Baku to sum up his visit.
The Polish Speaker responded to a variety of questions including the role of opening in Baku of the Polish national exhibition in development of the bilateral economic relations between Azerbaijan and Poland, prospects of further boosting the bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and information technologies, and other issues.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Bogdan Borusewicz said the dispute should be peacefully solved, and in accordance with international norms.
