PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV EXPRESSED CONDOLENCE TO JEWISH COMMUNITY OF AZERBAIJAN
President Ilham Aliyev addressed the Jewish community of Azerbaijan on the national day of mourning of the Jewish people, extending deep feelings of sympathy and compassion on the happenings - unprecedented genocide policy the Jews have undergone during the WW II.
Remembering mass murder of the Jewish people at the Warsaw Ghetto during the Second World War, President Aliyev shared sorrow and grief of the Jews, the ancestors of which have died in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in April 1943. As known, the event went down the history as a mourning and heroic day of the Jewish people and annually is commemorated by the progressive world community.
“In the last two centuries, the people of Azerbaijan have undergone the policy of genocide pursued by Armenians”, the President noted. “The people of Azerbaijan well knows what is the genocide, deportation and ethnic cleanse, and therefore is against any form of racism, ethnic and religious discrimination irrespective of where it takes place”.
As noted by the Head of State, the Jews are integral part of Azerbaijan society and preserve their language, culture, customs and traditions and take active part in the socio-political life of Azerbaijan, which is evidence to tolerance and democracy in the country.
