PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN CONGRATULATED COUNTRY’S JEWS ON THE JEWISH NEW YEAR
In the congratulatory letter, the President, speaking on development of the country, political and economic processes, notes that representatives of various peoples professing numerous religions live in Azerbaijan in conditions of peace and calmness.
Addressing the Jewish country-fellows, the President in particular, writes:
“Certainly, the peace among all peoples living in Azerbaijan is the main achievement. It is very pleasant that these friendly, brotherly relations every year become stronger, and all this goes for the blessing of our country. In the countries, where there is no national consent, there are problems, and there are difficulties, misunderstanding. And in the countries where there is national consent, there the peace, well-being and solidarity dominate.
The Jewish community in Azerbaijan has ancient history, and it has kept the unique originality, culture, national customs and traditions and very actively integrated into the society”.
President of Azerbaijan expressed his best wishes to Jews across the country, noting that Rosh Hashanah was one of the oldest Jewish rites. "Today, Azerbaijan, where different ethnicities historically reside together as members of one family, is confidently following the path of national independence. A necessary democratic and legal base has been founded in our country, allowing for the preservation of national minorities’ languages and cultures, national and religious traditions and rites, as well as ensuring human rights and freedoms," reads his message. “Just as the other ethnicities residing in our country, the Jewish population takes an active part in the historical processes currently unfolding in the country."
The Azerbaijan President also wrote that he was confident that the Jewish community would continue to participate in the social, political and cultural life of the country, while playing a role in strengthening the state's independence.
