RIM launches two new BlackBerry smartphones and new OS
Baku, May 3 (AZERTAC). Canadian Company Research In Motion (RIM) has unveiled two new smartphones made in the classical form factor BlackBerry Bold and a new operating system, BlackBerry OS 7 at the annual BlackBerry World Conference 2011.
Both models - BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 are based on 1.2 GHz updated hardware platform and are the thinnest devices in the said lineup, their shell thickness is 10.5 mm. In addition to supporting Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, aGPS and NFC, BlackBerry Bold 9930 supports both networks GSM, and CDMA. RAM is 768 MB. Note that the performance in the model of BlackBerry Bold 9780 was 512 MB.
2.8-inch touchscreen Liquid Graphics is one of the key features of the new products. Its distinguishing feature is the higher resolution - 640 x 480 (Bold 9780- 420 x 360 pixels).
Screen resolution is 287 dots per inch, which makes the image clearer. However, with this indicator the new devices are still inferior to the iPhone 4, which is equipped with a display with a resolution of 326 dots per inch.
The devices are equipped with accelerometer, digital compass, proximity sensor and 5- megapixel camera, which can be used to shoot video in 720p. With the help of a powerful processor one can watch such a video directly on the smartphone. Built-in memory is 8 GB. Besides that, the smartphones have support for microSD memory cards up to 32 GB.
RIM`s new smartphones are powered by BlackBerry OS 7. In fact, the renamed BlackBerry OS 6.1, a new platform brings an updated graphical user interface, improved support for Web standards, new JavaScript engine in the browser, the function of voice search on the smartphone and internet technology as well as BlackBerry Balance.
BlackBerry Balance technology makes it easy to use smartphone as a corporate communication and for personal purposes, Cnews reports.
Sales of new smartphones on the global market are scheduled for the summer of 2011.Pricing is not reported yet.
