Toshiba produces laptop-chameleon
Baku, February 1 (AZERTAC). It`s always been tough for laptop makers to distinguish their products among an ocean of similar choices. Now Toshiba is trying an interesting new angle with its Dynabook Qosmio T750/T8B notebook that changes colour depending on how you`re looking at it. While the past year has been huge for smartphones and tablets, by many accounts laptops have witnessed a bit of slump. Some are even going as far as to suggest that the tablet will eclipse the laptop within 5 years. So just how does Toshiba plan to ignite more personality and energy into the laptop market? Why with the colour-changing Qosmio T750 notebook of course.
Just to clarify, only the laptop lid (that is the opposite side of the laptop display) actually changes colour on the Toshiba Dynabook Qosmio T 750. Also, its color changes don`t run the full range of the entire rainbow, but rather only shift between shades of blue, green, and purple. Also, as mentioned, the colour doesn`t switch on demand, you actually have to move yourself or the laptop lid to see a difference. So, it might not be quite as exciting as it sounds, but it`s definitely interesting and unique at the very least.
The chameleon-like effect is achieved using polyester laminate films and a technique called Picasus to give the laptop a metallic look without actually using metal. Toshiba generated the technology in conjunction with Toray Industries and claim the T750 notebook is the first to employ it.Enough of the colour-changing gimmick, how does the Toshiba laptop actually perform? The rest of its specs are fairly impressive, though not as revolutionary as the lid. The Toshiba notebook packs a 15.6 inch LED backlit display, but unfortunately only with a 720p resolution. The hardware specs are fairly decent and include a 2.66GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM and a sizable 750GB hard drive.
