4th Türkiye-Azerbaijan Energy Forum kicks off in Izmir

The 4th Türkiye-Azerbaijan Energy Forum and the 14th Turkish Wind Energy Congress (TÜREK) have commenced in the city of Izmir, Türkiye.
The events jointly organized by the relevant institutions from both Azerbaijan and Türkiye, bring together more than 3,000 participants, including senior diplomats and government officials from around the world.
Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, and Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 President and Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues, are representing the country at the event.
The official opening ceremony of the 4th Türkiye-Azerbaijan Energy Forum was held on the first day of the event.
Speaking at the event, Minister Parviz Shahbazov emphasized that In his opening remarks, Minister Shahbazov emphasized that Azerbaijan and Türkiye have long been not only partners in the energy sector but also strategic allies shaping the geo-economic landscape of the region, contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable development, and jointly advancing international energy security. He underlined that relations based on the principle of one nation, two states and driven by the trust and confidence of the Heads of State have elevated Azerbaijan–Türkiye cooperation to an unprecedented level in history, becoming the driving force behind all major energy projects.
In his remarks, Mukhtar Babayev noted that thanks to the wisdom, foresight, and proper prioritization of economic potential by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the successful cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector plays a significant role in regional and global energy security.
Stressing that Azerbaijan and Türkiye are expanding their partnership in the fields of energy and climate, Mukhtar Babayev added: “Türkiye has recently taken a significant step in climate policy. The newly adopted Climate Law has laid a fundamental basis for Türkiye’s long-term carbon neutrality goal.”
According to him, Azerbaijan and Türkiye have always been responsible partners in the global energy system and have played a vital role in ensuring global energy security.
President Babayev spoke about the COP29 held in Azerbaijan in 2025, mentioning that the decisions and commitments made at this global event would support the implementation of ambitious energy plans worldwide. He emphasized that COP29 is not the end of Azerbaijan’s leadership efforts on shared global challenges, underlining that next May, Baku will host the 13th World Urban Forum.
In his turn, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, emphasized that the bond between Türkiye and Azerbaijan has remained strong throughout history and has been further reinforced by the principle of “One nation, two states.”
The minister stated that the joint projects carried out by the two countries are the clearest examples of a shared vision: “These ties are not only significant for our nations, but also hold great importance for the regional prosperity.”
