Azerbaijani books used in construction of Tower of Babel in Buenos Aires
Baku, May 12 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani books were used during the construction of a Tower of Babel in Buenos Aires. The Tower was built at St Martin Square of Buenos Aires. A spiraling tower was made from thousands of books in dozens of languages.
Called the Tower of Babel, the 25-metre high installation by Argentine artist Marta Minujin is made from 30,000 books, donated by readers, libraries and more than 50 embassies.
Azerbaijan embassy in Argentina also closely participated in the action supported by Buenos Aires Mayor`s Office.
Numerous books and publications about our country`s realities, Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, national leader Heydar Aliyev, history, culture, literature, music, cuisine, and traditions of Azerbaijan were offered by Azeri embassy to build the tower.
The symbolic Tower of Babel will be open for visitors within a month and Argentina`s first multilingual library will be established from the books used for the construction of the tower.
Buenos Aires is declared the World Book Capital 2011 by UNESCO.
