Azerbaijani town to claim to be CIS cultural capital
Moscow, March 31 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan is to nominate a city to be the capital of culture of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Polad Bulbuloglu, Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Russia, chairman of Board of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Foundation, said.
At words of Bulbuloglu, who took part at the celebrations on the occasion of giving the status of CIS capital of culture to the Ulyanovsk city of Russian Federation, a small town with its originality and folk arts and crafts can be nominated as the CIS cultural capital. In Azerbaijan, such towns as Sheki, Qabala, the ancient capital of Caucasian Albania, can be as such, the Ambassador added.
As stated, the goal of program is to bring numerous towns of the Commonwealth member countries to the notice of world community. The Program will enable to completely implement the Project in the Commonwealth countries as 2011 has been announced as a Year of protection of CIS historical-cultural heritage, Bulbulolgu underlined.
