Draft Programme of World Forum On Intercultural Dialogue unveiled
Baku, March 30 (AZERTAC). A draft programme of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue due in Baku in April was drawn up in cooperation with international organizations. The Forum offers a focused and highly relevant programme with the following sessions: Towards a world without dividing lines (the first session), Intercultural understanding and cultural diversity to achieve peace and development (the second session), Making the dialogue meaningful: culture, art and heritage (the third session), Women as key agents of intercultural dialogue (the fourth session), Dialogue between and among the world`s religions (the first thematic workshop), The impact of technology, social media and journalism in cross cultural relations” ( the second thematic workshop).
A World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue will be organized in Baku from 7 to 9 April 2011. The Forum is an initiative of the Government of Azerbaijan supported by UNESCO, UN Alliance of Civilizations, Council of Europe, North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and ISESCO. Based on the previous intercultural dialogue events known as the Baku Process, which was initiated by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in 2008, the Forum will bring together participants from all over the world, from global leaders and public figures to prominent intellectuals and activists.
The Forum will address the conceptual, governance, policy and practical aspects of the challenge of intercultural dialogue. It will tackle issues such as the barriers to dialogue and the diverse contexts in which it can be pursued. It will also provide an opportunity to share good practice and launch new initiatives. The synergy between political leaders and officials, experts and practitioners will be encouraged by the scope for informal networking organized around the event.
