Second mugham contest ends
Baku, March 21 (AZERTAC). The contest as part of the Mugham world, the second international mugham festival, has wrapped up here Sunday. The contest was organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Azerbaijan Composers` Union.
Since there was no worthy candidate for the Grandprix prize, the first place was awarded to two performers.
Azeri singer Ehtiram Huseynov and Iran`s Tehran Sepehr ensemble took the first spot. They received a diploma, €15,000 prize money and emblem of the festival.
A musical band from Urumchi, which took the second spot, was awarded €10,000 and an emblem while third-placed Morocco`s Makam and Jordan`s East-band ensembles received €5,000 each and an emblem.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism awarded Turkish singer Yeshim Koksal as the best performer of Karabakh shikastasi while National Conservatory`s prize went to Uzbek Jamaleddin Avazov`s family.
