Special exhibition of Louvre Museum to open in Baku
Baku, May 4 (AZERTAC). Henri Loyrette, director of the Louvre Museum, who is visiting Azerbaijan now, met the minister of culture and tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev.
At the meeting, Minister Abulfas Garayev noted that cooperation with the Louvre Museum will serve the further enrichment of the Azerbaijani culture and development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and France. Garayev told that the leadership of country attaches great importance to cooperation between the two countries. Thus, the Minister especially underlined that initiatives of the president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva have given a strong impulse to development of cultural contacts between the two countries. Having noted that between the Culture and Tourism Ministry and the Louvre Museum have been established close contacts, Garayev told that realization of joint projects will be continued.
Director of the Louvre Museum Henri Loyrette spoke of the planned joint projects of Azerbaijan and the Museum. As he said, the basis has been for this purpose put by signing in 2008 of the contract which means carrying out within 5 years of joint actions. Having informed that with support of the Azerbaijan state in Louvre it is planned to open section of Islamic culture, Henri Loyrette expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani officials for given support in this cause. He has added that after end of building of the Museum of Carpets in Baku the Azerbaijani carpets will be exposed in Louvre, and some exhibits of Louvre - in the Museum of Carpets. Henri Loyrette also informed that the discussions are underway concerning the organization in 2013-2014s of a special exhibition of Louvre in Baku. As he said, this was discussed with the minister, and at the subsequent meetings the solution of this question will be concretized. Henri Loyrette also has added that the sides reached agreement on carrying out of regular joint exhibitions.
