Thieves steal Norwegian king`s ski jacket
Baku, February 12 (AZERTAC). King Haakon VII`s monogrammed reindeer fur ski jacket has been stolen from the Holmenkollen Ski Museum in Oslo. It is thought the thieves walked off with the historic garment sometime yesterday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. after managing to break open the reinforced glass housing. “The casing is very heavy. We have surveillance cameras on the outside of the building, and security guards conduct regular patrols inside. There are also regular museum tours, so it must have only have taken them only a few minutes,” Museum director Karin Berg tells Aftenposten in disbelief.
Approximately 60 visitors were present at the time of the theft. Ms Berg thinks professionals committed the robbery. “They must have monitored things beforehand. However, somebody must have seen something, and we hope members of the public can help towards recovering this national treasure.” The Palace has been informed of the robbery, and police crime technicians are now at the scene gathering evidence. Ms Berg says the museum will remain open as normal.
