Ukraine to host international film assembly
Baku, February 2 (AZERTAC). The Centre of Orthodox Culture "Lestvytsia" in association with the Dnipropetrovsk authorities and with the blessing of Metropolitan of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad Irenaeus has held in Dnepropetrovsk, east of Ukraine, the International Film Assembly on the Dnieper 2013.
According to the head of the Centre of Orthodox Culture, priest Ihor (Sobko) the purpose of the event is to promote documentary cinema and create favorable conditions for the development of modern documentary filmmaking. Film screenings, meetings and presentations had held for three days, with 11 films by cinematographers from Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Russia.
The guests of the film forum had been known directors Oleksandr Stolyarov (Kyiv), Alexander Kuprin (Moscow), Sergey Golovetsky (Moscow), Alexander Kiselev (St. Petersburg), Yuriy Gorulev (Minsk), Galina Adamovich (Minsk).
The festival honors new and cutting-edge foreign independent films in several competition categories. Partnering with notable film industry companies, film educators, directors, producers, and writers, competition provides a forum for talented filmmakers to be recognized for their work, creativity, and achievements.
