US-AZERBAIJAN ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP COMMISSION HOLDS ITS FIRST MEETING
The first meeting of the US-Azerbaijan Economic Partnership Commission started today in the Azerbaijan capital, Baku.
The chairmen of the Commission are the Azerbaijan Finance Minister, Samir Sharifov, and the US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, Daniel Sullivan.
The talks` focus will be on exploring the ways of further boosting the bilateral economic ties between the two countries.
Opening the event, Samir Sharifov said this is the first high-level meeting of the Azerbaijan and U.S. officials, and added it demonstrates the importance both countries place on the bilateral cooperation with each other.
Daniel Sullivan said he believes the Commission will give the impetus to further enhancement of the US-Azerbaijan economic ties.
The US-Azerbaijan Economic Partnership Commission includes representatives from the Azerbaijan Ministries of Finance, Emergency Situations, Economic Development, Justice, Taxes, Agriculture, Health and Communication and Information Technologies, as well as representatives from the National Bank, State Oil Fund, Azerbaijan Airlines, the Milli Majlis and the State Customs Committee.
In addition to the US Department of State, the American side includes senior representatives from the Department of Commerce, Energy, Treasury, Agriculture, the Trade Representative`s Office, the Trade and Development Administration, and the Agency for International Development.
The sides are expected to sign eight documents on bilateral cooperation.
