Uzbek President Islam Karimov to visit Japan
Baku, February 11 (AZERTAC). By the invitation of Japanese Prime-Minister Naoto Kan the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov is going to give official visit to this country on February 8-10.
According to Uzbek governmental media the parties are going to discuss important issues of expansion and development of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation, the mutually important and challenging regional and international problems. As the result of negotiations the parties are going to sign the number of bilateral documents, targeted at deeper interaction of two states in various fields.
"Since the first days of independence Uzbekistan has been maintaining tied relations with the land of the rising sun - said UzA. - Japan views Uzbekistan as the leading state in Central Asia. The relations between Uzbekistan and Japan reached the level of strategic partnership".
"Japan as the state, interested in strategic partnership and cooperation with our country, with high attention monitors the socio-political processes in Uzbekistan. The parliament, prestigious higher institutions of the land of the rising sun have held the conferences and seminars, dedicated to learning the experience of Uzbekistan and Japan in building strong civil society. These events were attended by the deputies of both chambers of the parliament and political parties of Japan, representatives of public organizations and experts of think tanks. The following statement of Kyoko Nakayama, the parliamentary deputy, characterizes high interest of Japanese public to socio-political life in Uzbekistan: "It would be useful for Japanese side to learn the structure and activities of public organizations and local authorities in Uzbekistan. I believe the experience of Uzbekistan in building strong civil society and specifically the development of Mahallah institute may serve as an example for many states", said the edition.
