Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026) kicks off

Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026) has kicked off in Azerbaijan’s capital.
The event’s opening ceremony brings together climate officials from Azerbaijan and Türkiye, representatives of the COP30 and COP31 presidencies, international organizations, and high-level climate champions.
The opening ceremony will feature addresses by Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 President and Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues; Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov; Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev; COP30 Executive Director Ana Toni; COP31 CEO Fatma Varank; COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Ağırbaş; IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camera; and others.
A video dedicated to BCAW 2026 was screened during the event. Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), will also deliver a video address to the participants.
BCAW 2026 serves as an international platform for discussions on climate change, the energy transition, renewable energy, sustainable development, and accelerating climate action.
