Rome, December 16 (AZERTAC). A book “Essad bey, Azerbaijani writer in Positano” has been published in Italy. The author of the book is Romulus Ercolino.
The book tells about the last period of Assad Bey`s life in Positano.
The book, which includes copyright of writer`s works, unpublished letters, and memories on his short life in Positano, was distributed to the readers of the Ca` Foscari University of Venice.
Essad Bey (pseudonym Kurban Said) who was known as Magomed Asado in Italy, was a pen-name of Lev Nussimbaum, was born in Baku in 1905. His books translated into many languages, including the biographies of the Prophet Muhammad, of Lenin and Stalin, Czar Nicholas II and Shah Reza Pahlavi.
The novelist`s best-known work “Ali and Nino,” published in 1937, is still in print.
Essad Bey spent the second half of his life as a refashioned Muslim prince—before meeting an early end in Italy at Positano.
Essad Bey dies at the age of 36, consumed by the disease. As per his wishes, his body is buried in the small cemetery in Positano.
